Our Goals

What:  

Provide 80 Rochester residents with permanent, affordable, quality housing combined with on-site social and educational services in a new 3-story energy - efficient, 76,000 sq ft. building with on-site parking and expert management.

Why:  

There is a shortage of permanent affordable housing in the City of Rochester. The Eastman Commons facility will replicate a proven model that provides tenants with the support they need while instilling a sense of pride in their independent living.

Who: 

Individual adults (workers, seniors, veterans, etc.) earning less than $26,940 / year, and adult formerly homeless individuals ready for independent living. 
All tenants will undergo an application and screening process, sign annual leases and pay rent equaling 30 % of eligible income.

On-site services: 

Case management, life skills development, goal planning, credit counseling, money management, and educational assistance along with other health, social and recreational activities.

Where: 

1630 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, New York (formerly Crescent Puritan Dry Cleaners) in the historic Maplewood Section, of the City of Rochester, NY

When: 

Construction is expected to begin in 2010 with demolition of the existing building and site cleanup. Lease-up and opening is targeted for late 2011.
