Eastman Commons locates its new office at Eastman Business Park in the Historic Maplewood Neighborhood
Eastman Commons Community (ECC), a not-for-profit charitable corporation, has opened a new office in the City neighborhood where it is developing a residential community that will provide attractive affordable housing for low-income individuals and homeless adults with the assistance they need to live independently. David Agostinelli, ECC president, said the corporation is “proud to be located in the historic Maplewood neighborhood.”
ECC will be operating out of an office at Eastman Business Park, 200 West Ridge Road in Building 28. “We’re also pleased to have this wonderful opportunity to work with Eastman Business Park,” Agostinelli added, “ a place that has contributed significantly to the proud history of this neighborhood.” The office is just blocks away from 1630 Dewey Avenue, where this organization is planning to establish an innovative housing model. On this site a building with 80 one-bedroom apartments will be built, with half reserved for formerly homeless individuals who have been referred as ready for independent living. The rest of the apartments will be available for low-income adults. All tenants will sign leases and pay rent that is no more than 30 percent of their income. Services will be available on-site, and through referral with community-based providers, for the residents aimed at improving their health, wellness and economic status. The development is moving forward as capital financing is being secured and detailed designs are being formulated.
“We are dedicated to being good neighbors,” continued Agostinelli, “assisting in the revitalization of our community, and looking forward to bringing over $15 million in new capital to the area during these difficult economic times.”
